Review/Setlist

Thursday September 15, 2005
Theater of the Living Arts - Philadelphia, PA
Opener: Shannon McNally

Our flight got us into Philly just before noon and we kindly asked our shuttle driver to turn the radio to 88.5 in hopes that we could catch the BoDeans radio show. Unfortunately they just came on the radio as we were pulling into the hotel parking lot. So we heard the first half of True Devotion as we were getting out of the shuttle and quickly ran up to our room where we listened to the rest of the radio show. We missed anything that was spoken after True Devotion but quickly tuned in for Sad Eyes and the rest of the show where they said they were concentrating on the new cd and that the Homebrewed DVD would be out in November. They also played Runaway and by now we were noticing that Kurt was not singing on any of the songs. Sam informed us that Kurt was a little under the weather but that he would be singing at the show that evening. Kurt replied that he was a little "phlegmmed this morning". Rest assured, Kurt sounded great by show time that night. :)

We got to the TLA with plenty of time, took pictures of the marquee and us under it, said hi to Eric as he left the venue, and enjoyed the last of the jello shots that we had stashed in our purses. Our BoDeans Family East Coast Reunion was well underway!

Shannon McNally opened and did a wonderful job. She was accompanied by one guy on slide guitar and together they made this rich soulful/rock that really grew on me each day we saw them play. The BoDeans came on right on time and looked great as always.

Setlist:
1. Idaho
- Sam could be seen checking out our matching shirts :)
2. Still the Night
3. Fadeaway
- w/ Kenny drumming Sam's guitar
4. 617
5. Makes U
- with a lovefest of swaying blue Reunion shirts up front.
6. Texas Ride Song
7. Sad Eyes
- Sam said it's about the times when you find yourself singing a song and ask yourself...."why the hell am I singing this song."
8. You Don't Get Much
9. True Devotion
10. Jenny Rae
- I've lost track of how many versions of Jenny Rae there are...but I absolutely love this version
11. Good Work - Kurt could be seen rolling up his sleeves in anticipation for this one, then he gets down on his knees to press some of his pedals on the floor. While he's still on his knees he starts Good Work before standing back up and doing the count off....one...two....one....two....three....four.
12. Naked - The purple guitar made it's appearance, and when it came time for Kurt to sing the echo of "Hold You" and "Control", Kurt just looked down at us and smiled expecting us to sing it loud and clear....and sing it we did.
13. Feed the Fire w/ Gimme Shelter, Slow Ride, Midnight Hour
14. Closer to Free
---Encore---
15. I'm in Trouble Again w/Stolen Car
- Kenny was balancing a bottle of water on his head for the first 20 seconds or so while he played.
16. Good Things
