Review/Setlist

Big Top Chautauqua - Bayfield, WI

After having so much fun in Bayfield last year, there was no way we were going to pass up this road trip. We hit the road early, made our way north and arrived with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. If you've never been to Bayfield, go, it's the cutest little town, right on Lake Superior and the perfect place for a little relaxing. Not to mention a great place for a show! :)

After a BoDiva sighting at the hotel, we made our way to the Big Top, found our places, and were informed we were to be treated to two 45 min sets. Have to apologize if my setlist is wrong, I must have been distracted during the first set because my notes are all over the place and out of order, but here ya go anyway!

Setlist:
1. Idaho
- no scaring Kurt this year, but the guys did get a standing ovation.
2. Makes U
3. 617
- Kevin and Eric sure know how to get this one going. Sounded great!
4. Going Home - Sam introduces it by talking about being asked what it was like working with Robbie Robertson and how he was explaining to him how his family came to Milwaukee and Robbie had told Sam that it should be a song. Sam's reply was "Hey, you're probably right Robbie."
After the song, Kurt was telling us a story about how they believe they saw Sasquatch on their drive up that day and went on to mimic a Sasquatch call to try to get it out of hiding. Needless to say, it was absolutely hilarious!
5. Angels
6. Texas Ride Song
- Lots of jumping this year. Kurt commented afterwards "There's a humdinger!"
7. True Devotion
8. Still the Night w/ Wanna Be Sedated
- Kurt mentioned that "You can't call yourselves BoDeans fans if you don't sing along" - so we did. There was one point that Sam wanted to keep going with one more round of 'Hold you tonight...' but Bukka was already up in front rocking out on his accordion, and sounding mighty fine if I may say so myself. At one point while the rest of the guys were all up front, Eric jumped up by Kevin and was playing with him for a while.
--30 min break--
9. Say About Love
10. Good Work w/Batman
11.Runaway
- mid-song Sam throws in a "smoooth"
12. Fadeaway w/Bed's Too Big
13. Naked w/Rickshaw Riding
- and of course us singing the echos again.
15. Wild World - Kurt threw in the 'Breaking my heart right from the start....' line, too bad it was off mic and we couldn't actually hear it though.
16. Closer To Free - As always, they were all way up front but in the process Sam got his cord all tangled up in some of the equipment in front of Kurt's mic and ended up stuck next to Kurt while John tried to get him loose.
--encore--
17. Paradise - Bukka joined Kurt and Sam on his accordion this time and sounded wonderful. Sam was lost in the song and missed coming in at one point but recovered nicely.
18. Feed The Fire w/ Light My Fire, Gimme Shelter, Slow Ride & Midnight Hour - oh, and can't forget that she was 6'4" from her head to the ground.....
19. Good Things

Really was a great show, the guys seemed to be having a good time up there, and most of them were kind enough to stick around afterwards signing some autographs for a few fans. And you really can't protest to sitting on the front porch enjoying the rest of a beautiful summer night.
