Riverview Music Festival - Chicago, IL
Opener: Jackie Green, The Subdudes

For the second time this week, we found ourselves making the trek to Chicago. Wish traffic would have been better this time around, but hearing WXRT play Still the Night from Tower Records in '93 made it a little more bearable. :)

Caught up with the gang at the hotel before heading over to the festival grounds. Unfortunately never did get to meet Rondo....I guess the search continues even though we did had our eyes peeled for anyone in a red and white striped shirt! :)

Jackie Green was very enjoyable. Anyone who hasn't taken rick_m's advice yet, should definitely check out Jackie Green. The Subdudes were good also, they had us moving, but I have to be honest that about half way through their set I was ready for our guys to come on already.

And evenutally they did, here's how it went....

1. Say About Love
2. Good Work w/Batman -
....we sang along like we always do.
3. 617
4. Texas Ride Song
- with the usual four up front, Bukka rocking out on his accordion and a great Eric solo mixed in the middle.
5. Don't Be Lonely - Sam sans guitar as always and having a great time just singing for us.
6. Idaho - "yeah!" -- hey girls....I think they heard us. :)
7. Still The Night w/Sedated - Before they started, Sam was saying that WXRT "played the hell out of this next song" for a while and that we all needed to sing our hearts out when our part came. The whole time Sam's saying this, Kurt is getting ready to play Stay On and was already playing a few chords. The two of them exchanged a look as if to say "what are you doing?" before Kurt went along with it and played Still the Night like Sam was leading into. After making Kurt switch gears, Sam threw in a comment saying "I hope he speaks to me in the morning!"
8. True Devotion - again Kurt was starting to play a bit of Stay On while Sam was getting ready to go into True Devotion.
9. Stay On - finally, we get to hear the whole thing! So we cheered. :)
10. Makes U - no bellissimo this time....even better, it was a soft, almost whispered "beautiful" that Sam threw out there.
11. Runaway - Sam dedicated this to Kenny Aronoff...."because he's a runaway, you know!" (Kenny had been in Chicago on Sunday with Fogerty)
12. Fadeaway w/Bed's Too Big - Kurt treated us by singing the Bed's Too Big part. Noah was going crazy back behind the kit, he definitely had his groove on, but we weren't sure what kind of groove it was, or where it was going....and it in turn caused more than a few confused looks (and laughter) amongst the rest of the guys.
13. Naked - "Hold you"....or not to "Hold you".....that is the question.
14. Closer To Free - more four up front moments. Kurt was doing the usual band introductions but he introduced himself as "Kurt.....Robert.....Numi!!!"
- encore -
15. Good Things - Always enjoyable to end the show the the three of them jumping along and then Kurt and Sam just going at it at center stage.
