Review/Setlist

Sunday December 31, 2006
Barrymore Theatre - Madison, WI

New Years Eve started out like any other day of the roadtrip. Sleeping late. And who knew we'd get sucked into an Ugly Betty marathon on New Years Eve. At least we had a few pretty blue drinks in hand to make things *very* interesting.

Finally made it over to the Barrymore, happy to see some of our group was there already and were the only ones in line. Drinks for the road put all of us in a *really* good mood just in time for us to stake out our spots of front. Paid very little attention to the opener, other than wondering what in the world she was wearing. And before we knew it the guys were coming out for one last show of the year.

They took the stage around 10:20 and went right into:
1. YDGM – so much power, you can’t help be get all wrapped up in the music
2. Runaway
3. Good Work w/Batman
– we danced, and danced and danced….or at least if I remember correctly
4. Sleep – sleep? Already? But it's way early to be thinking about sleeping!
5. Idaho – all I remember is hearing “what the hell is that”. So I’m guessing Kurt was telling the Manhattan MO story again.
6. Texas Ride Song – always a pleasure jumping with the fellow BoDivas! Although it’s pretty difficult when you have heels on and there’s no way I’d take my shoes off at the Barrymore. Heck, the floor was sticky even before the show!
7. Nobody Loves Me – no Sammy dance but everyone sure was rocking!
8. Still the Night w/Sedated - Somewhere in all that craziness of Wanna Be Sedated I heard a familiar BoDiva voice yell out “That’s PUNK!”
9. Misery – no guest performances, but the guys were sure having fun!
10. Makes U...we were way beyond happy...

- break- (11:45pm)
The emcee tells everyone to go get some champaign and return in about 10 mins. The guys came out a minute or so before midnight, the emcee did the countdown, we cheered, lots of hugs. And then they picked up their guitars and went into:

11. Fadeaway – the guys were seriously rocking on this. And had everyone rocking along with them. The energy builds up right there in the middle until it’s almost too much to handle. And at one point Kurt came up to the edge of the stage in front of me and just as I grabbed my things off the stage so that they wouldn’t get kicked (because he’s been known to kick things left on the stage) but instead this time he tried to kick ME! I had to duck out of the way otherwise I was going to get his foot right in my face! I tell ya, he’s the biggest troublemaker of them all!
12. Naked – Being that it’s one of the biggest shows of the year, we had to do something special for Naked. So instead of “Hold you” it turned into “Happy New Year!” – totally threw Sam off, don’t know if he even made it to “control” but he did comment that “you guys are making me crazy!” Yup, and in all that craziness I just wish I would have had better aim. **PING**...Close but not quite far enough! Although it did get a good laugh out of all of them for the rest of the night!
13. Closer to Free – and we’re still giggling…
- encore #1 –
14. Feed The Fire w/Gimme Shelter, Slow Ride, Midnight Hour – wow...talk about getting a girl in a frenzy!
15. Good Things – The song was great as always. And for a second time Kurt came up to the front of the stage and tried to plant his foot in my face. And again I had to duck out of the way! Inthe process I caught the other guys laughing at Kurt's silly antics. Then, at the very end of the song when they’re all rocking out, Kurt put down his guitar, pulled off his jacket and headed back by Noah…..my jaw dropped...Just as Kurt and Noah were starting to go at it on the kit, the rest of the guys left the stage. The whole thing was unbelievable! I haven’t seen Kurt do the big ‘Good Things Drum Finale’ in probably 6-7 years! Not since Nick Kitsos was still playing with them! So of course it blew me away! And you could see that Kurt and Noah were having so much fun playing together...smiles all around! Not to mention the crowd was going nuts as well...and continued to go nuts as Kurt and Noah walked off stage.
- encore #2 – There wasn’t a second encore on the setlist, and I’m pretty sure the house music had already come on, but we were cheering so loud you really couldn’t hear anything. Finally Kurt, Sam and Bukka came back for more….
16. Paradise – they had everyone swaying and singing along for this.
- Eric and Noah come out and everyone gathers at center stage to figure out what to play….
17. Only Love – great way to end the show. We were definitely feeling the love, and I hope they were too.

I couldn’t have wished for a better show. So much fun, so many friends, and seriously, who doesn’t like dressing up a little every once in a while! I know the beginning of my review is lacking a bit, but to be completely honest, things were a little blurring in the beginning…ok, more than a little blurry. So what if there weren’t a whole lot of notes...it’s NYE, what do you expect! :)

With that said, I hope everyone….the fans, the band and everyone in between have a great 2007. Here’s to nothing but good things to come!
