Mohican North Star Casino - Bowler, WI
Opener: none

From the beginning it seemed strange to have an indoor show in the middle of summer, but once we were faced with a very rainy weekend, I couldn't have been more relieved that it was indoors (even though one of my favorite BoDeans-memories involves a torrential downpour mid-show :)

We had no trouble getting to Bowler despite the fact that it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Scratch that....it IS in the middle of nowhere. Although we did come across a great photo-op along the way and we made sure to stop as any good BoDiva would!

Once we got in, we quickly took our spots up front being careful not to cross the line just in front of the stage or else get reprimanded by security. Not sure how they expected us to stay 5 feet back from the stage with only a line on the floor, but we didn't worry about it too much since we knew that it was 'just a matter of time' before we crossed that line (amongst other lines as well.... :)

The guys took the stage pretty much on time, and entertained us with:
1. Say About Love - Even though it looked pretty funny, had to feel bad for Kenny who obviously was having trouble seeing Kurt and had to resort to leaning forward, backward or ducking under his cymbal to see when to end the song. (although he did have quite the facial expressions to match all his maneuvers! :)
2. Good Work w/Batman - lovin' Bukka's solo (and hair cut!)
3. Runaway - Kurt ends by telling us to sing along with all of these older songs..."they're from the 80's...I've heard that's vintage now"
4. Idaho
5. First Time - Sam tells us that they're planning on having the new disc out early next year, and that this is one of the new songs. Really enjoying Kurt harmony in this....although it may have helped that I was standing right in front of him. :) (BTW, Kurt's new guitar looks (& sounds) fantastic up close, too!)
6. Texas Ride Song - "this here is a hootenanny" as Kurt so kindly told us with a big smile while Kenny was laying now that fantastic beat. Anyone who's been up front once or twice, can tell you that Bukka has a tendency to stomp his foot during the famous 4-upfront moment. Well this time Kurt and Eric joined in the foot stomping goodness with lots of smiles to match. Oh yeah and don't tell security, but I crossed the line while jumping! :) But it didn't matter much because right after the song the guys questioned aloud why we were staying back... and instantly, the line was gone.
7. Naked - Afterwards Kurt informed us "it's Sammy getting naked!"
8. We Can Live
9. Still The Night w/Sedated
10. Feed The Fire w/ Gimme Shelter, Slow Ride, Midnight Hour, Don't Cha
11. Go Slow Down - may have been imagining things, but the song seemed a smidge slower than last weekend....but it up-ed the sex appeal ten-fold. Afterwards Kurt teasingly told us that this was a song about "laying down to go to sleep....slow"
12. Fadeaway - the song was fantastic as alway, but I only wrote one thing in my notebook: "damn bugs!" :)
13. Closer To Free
--encore--
14. You Don't Get Much
- if it was my choice, I'd hit the imaginary 'repeat' button after this song....don't think I could ever get tired of hearing this live. Amazing how this song takes on so much life when it's played live, even more so when Kenny is behind the kit. Absolutely mesmerizing every single time.
15. Good Things - always a fun ending, especially with everyone jumping at the end, even if there was a false start. :)
