Last Fling - Naperville, IL
Opener: Stellar Road, Arre

Keeping with tradition, we once again made sure to see the guys play on Labor Day weekend. Can't think of any other way to spend the last weekend of summer and they sure didn't disappoint!

The BoDivas arrived early, made our way through the festival grounds and once again secured our front and center spots. From there we enjoyed the last of the afternoon sun and patiently waited for the openers to finally give the stage over to the BoDeans. Once they did, it went a little something like this:

Setlist:
1. Say About Love - Sam made sure to point out that "Kenny says love is a freaky scene" which of course brought smiles & laughter on and off stage. For the second time this month we see Kurt with a new guitar...or at least one we've never seen before. Perhaps Santa came a little early this year? :)
2. Good Work w/Batman - rocking as ever, Bukka with his fantastic solo and the BoDivas singing Batman from the front row.
3. Runaway
4. Idaho - After the song, Sam looks up at a giant monument/belltower thing on the corner of the grounds and asks if that was there last time they played the Last Fling. Then goes on to comment that it's "like a big penis in the sky". Something tells me that was a bit more than the 'lil BoDivas in the front row needed to hear! :)
5. First Time
6. Texas Ride Song - may have been just me, but it seemed a bit faster than normal, unless it's just Kenny's drumming that makes it so much more powerful.....I think Sam said it all when afterwards he laughed and said he needed a defibrillator.
7. Naked - with a FANTASTIC "control" ;)
8. We Can Live
9. Still The Night w/Sedated - love how they all gather around Kenny while speeding things up at the end....the smiles on their faces say it all.
10. Feed The Fire w/ Gimme Shelter, Slow Ride, Midnight Hour, Don't Cha
11. Go Slow Down
12. Fadeaway - I know I've heard this song live countless times through the years, but there is something about it that I've always loved. Might have to do with the current line-up and the power of their combined talents, or the fact that the song seems to continually change every couple show, or the fact that the guys always look like they get lost in the music just as much as we do (or even more so). No matter what, it's always a highlight in the show for me and Saturday night was no exception.
13. Closer To Free - ....umm, folks, sorry to burst your bubble, but it's free...not three. ;)
--encore--
14. You Don't Get Much - unbelievable as ever.
15. Good Things
